This is a very important meeting! We'll be discussing strategy to continue fighting the Blythe Township landfill. 08/01/07 - News & Next MeetingAccording to the latest information provided by DEP, Blythe Township is choosing to provide a response and to address the several issues that were outlined in the April Pre-Denial letter. This battle is far from over, so we must continue to remain organized and fight them during the remaining steps of the way in order to prevent this harmful landfill from harming our communities! The next SC FORCE meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22nd at 7:00PM at St. Michael's Hall (Morris Street - St. Clair, PA). Thank you for your continued support. -SC FORCE The BRADS Landfill was issued a pre-denial letter from DEP on Friday, April 27th. For the full article featured in The Republican & Herald, click here. 05/02/07 - A Message From SC FORCE:On Friday, April 27th DEP issued a pre-denial letter to Blythe Township regarding the proposed BRADS landfill. In this letter DEP states: “BRADS should fully respond to each identified issue in this pre-denial notification, as failure to do so will result in a denial of the application.” Some of the several issues BRADS must address include: site ownership, leachate management, botanical studies, local emergency management resources, mine subsidence, recreational affects, traffic harms, air quality, and aesthetics. Although the battle is not “officially” over, BRADS has several very serious deficiencies they must address. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the very important December 5, 2006 DEP Public Hearing including the concerned members of the community, engineers, lawyers, emergency medical personnel, police officers, fire fighters, and elected officials. The overwhelming amount of information regarding the known and potential harms that was presented at this hearing provided DEP with enough information to conditionally deny the landfill application. SC FORCE will be holding a meeting on June 6th, 2007 at 7:00pm at St. Michael's Hall (110 N. Morris Street, St. Clair, PA) to discuss the status of the landfill application, fundraising, and future endeavors. All are welcome, as we look forward to continuing our efforts to protect our communities and our environment! -SC FORCE LET CONGRESS KNOW THAT WE CARE! Be a part of the latest effort to show Congress that we care about our environment and let them know that something must be done NOW! Go to algore.com or click here and sign up, then spread the word. This is too important to ignore any longer! ---OLD UPDATES BELOW--- 03/01/07 - Take the time to check out this article in The REPUBLICAN & Herald from 02/22/07: "Candidate questions possible conflict of interest over BRADS landfill." Also, we have not yet heard from DEP regarding their decision to either permit or deny the Blythe Township landfill. Unfortunately, these things take time, and as soon as we get information from DEP, we will pass it on. Thanks once again for all of your continued support.12/12/06 - Thanks to everyone who attended and/or spoke to oppose the landfill at the DEP hearing on December 5th. Everyone's efforts are greatly appreciated and we will surely post any news from DEP regarding their decision on the landfill permit as soon as we hear anything. The next SC FORCE meeting will be sometime at the end of January or early February and we'll post the exact date as soon as possible.
